The Supreme Court of India has issued a circular advising members of the Bar and parties appearing in person to opt for the hybrid mode of hearings, including video conferencing, in view of prevailing adverse weather conditions. The advisory aims to ensure the smooth functioning of judicial proceedings while safeguarding the convenience and safety of all stakeholders.

The circular was issued on December 14, 2025, following directions from the Chief Justice of India. It states that, wherever convenient, advocates and litigants may avail themselves of the facility of appearing through video conferencing in matters listed before the Hon’ble Courts.

According to the circular, the advisory is not mandatory but a facilitative measure, allowing flexibility to the Bar and litigants during challenging weather conditions. The Supreme Court has continued to emphasize the effective use of technology to ensure uninterrupted access to justice, especially during circumstances that may affect physical attendance.
