The Special Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Meerut has ordered judicial custody of a person accused of a massive Rs. 10.85 crore tax evasion case under the CGST Act, 2017.
The accused was booked under Sections 132(1)(b), 132(1)(c), and 132(1)(i) by the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI), RZU Ghaziabad.
The person was accused of playing a key role in orchestrating fraudulent GST activities.
During the hearing, Special Public Prosecutor Lakshay Kumar Singh delivered blazing arguments, exposing Guma’s pivotal role in the tax fraud.
Convinced by the prosecution’s strong presentation of facts and the serious financial nature of the offense, the court granted the request for 14-day judicial custody. The accused will remain lodged in Meerut District Jail until July 4, 2025.
The court emphasized the grave nature of the crime, which involves fraudulent claims and evasion amounting to over Rs. 10.85 crore, and observed that custodial interrogation and judicial oversight were necessary.
Authorities have been instructed to ensure the presence of the accused on the next hearing date via video conferencing.
