The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has designated Village Namli in Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh as a customs location for the unloading of imported goods and loading of export goods.

The notification further amended the long-standing Notification No. 12/97-Customs (N.T.) issued under Section 7 of the Customs Act, 1962.

As per the amendment, the following entry has been added: “Village Namli, Ratlam – Unloading of imported goods and the loading of export goods or any class of such goods.”

The move is expected to strengthen logistics and trade infrastructure in the Ratlam region, which has emerged as an important industrial and transport hub in central India. By notifying Namli as an authorized customs handling point, importers and exporters operating in and around Madhya Pradesh may benefit from improved cargo movement efficiency and reduced logistical bottlenecks.

The notification also records that the principal Notification No. 12/97-Customs (N.T.), originally issued on April 2, 1997, has undergone multiple amendments over the years, with the last amendment prior to this being Notification No. 40/2026-Customs (N.T.) dated April 23, 2026.
