The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has appointed 4 new members of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of 4 persons to the vacant posts of Member, Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).

The new CBDT members are Pankaj Kumar Mishra, IRS (IT:89023), Member (Finance), Atomic Energy Commission; Sanjay Bahadur, IRS (IT:89037), Principal Director General of Income Tax (Training), Delhi; L. Rajasekhar Reddy, IRS (IT:89088), Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS), Chennai, Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Regions; and Ms. G. Aparna Rao, IRS (IT:89114), Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax-1, Bengaluru, Karnataka & Goa Regions.

Shri Pankaj Kumar Mishra IRS (IT 1989) presently Director, Financial Intelligence Unit, Department of Revenue , has been given extension in upgradation from the level of Joint Secretary to Additional Secretary for term upto 12.05. 2023. Indian Bureaucracy Dot Com wishes Shri Pankaj Kumar Mishra the very best.

Sh. Sanjay Bahadur has worked in various capacities in Income Tax Department including 10 years in Investigation/ Central vertical. He has also served many years as Director in Ministry of Coal and Mines and also as Advisor Economics in Competition Commission of India [CCI]. His experience ranges from tax administration, intelligence, enforcement to e-governance, policy making and market regulation. He has also been interested in capacity development and training sector and is the only serving IRS Officer in the DoPT created National Pool of Trainers since 2013.  He is an internationally published author. His debut novel, The Sound of Water was longlisted for inaugural Man Asian Literary Prize, 2007 and earned international critical acclaim. His third novel, was optioned for making of a feature film, His fourth novel was recently published by Harper Collins in July, 2024. He practices martial arts and holds a Black Belt in Karate and earned international level 4th degree Black Belt degree in Taekwondo in 2021. He is also an avid cyclist.

L. Rajasekhar Reddy, IRS (IT:89088) is a Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS), Chennai, Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Regions. He was one of the 34 Indian Revenue Service (IRS-IT) officers who was granted approval for the empanelment for promotion to the prestigious rank of Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Pr. CCIT) for the panel year 2025. 

Ms. G. Aparna Rao, IRS (IT:89114), Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax-1, Bengaluru, Karnataka & Goa Regions. She was one of the 34 Indian Revenue Service (IRS-IT) officers who was granted approval for the empanelment for promotion to the prestigious rank of Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Pr. CCIT) for the panel year 2025.
