Ahmedabad Customs officials intercepted a female passenger arriving from Sharjah and seized gold jewellery valued at approximately ₹28.87 lakh during an interception at the airport.
According to the Customs authorities, the passenger was intercepted on August 16, 2026, following her arrival from Sharjah. During examination, Customs officers recovered gold jewellery weighing 219.43 grams.

The seized jewellery comprised 24-karat and 18-karat gold and was collectively valued at ₹28,87,000, as assessed by the Customs authorities.
The gold was seized under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962. The seizure forms part of the Customs Department’s continuing efforts to detect and prevent the illegal movement of precious metals through international airports.
The authorities have initiated further investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the attempted import of the gold, including its source, intended recipient and compliance with the applicable customs declaration and duty requirements.
