CBDT Elevates Three Senior IRS Officers to Apex Grade of Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has promoted three senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officers namely Adarsh Kumar Modi, Rajeshwar Yadav, and Lalit Krishna Singh Dehiya to the topmost functional rank in the Income Tax Department — Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (PCCIT). 

The elevations, effective from August 1, 2025, are part of the panel year 2025 cadre restructuring exercise.

The post of Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax represents the highest echelon in the department’s operational hierarchy. Officers in this role oversee critical policy formulation, monitor high-value tax investigations, and ensure the effective implementation of compliance and enforcement mechanisms across multiple jurisdictions. Their leadership is instrumental in aligning tax administration with national economic goals.
