DGGST to Host Nationwide Interactive Session on GST Demand Notices and Adjudication Reforms

In a significant step towards streamlining tax administration and enhancing the Ease of Doing Business in India, the Directorate General of Goods and Services Tax (DGGST) has announced a nationwide study focused on demand notices and adjudication orders.

As part of this initiative, the Southern Zonal Unit of the DGGST, headquartered in Chennai, will hold a virtual interactive session on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 3:00 PM. The meeting will bring together industry associations and stakeholders to share feedback and insights based on their experiences with Show Cause Notices (SCNs), personal hearings, and adjudication processes.

The core objective of this session is to identify procedural inefficiencies, uncover systemic issues in GST dispute resolution, and formulate constructive reforms. By doing so, the DGGST aims to ensure that GST adjudication is fair, consistent, and minimally disruptive to businesses.

According to the official communication, stakeholders are encouraged to submit names and contact details of their representatives who will join the session. Prepare specific observations or recurring issues related to SCNs and adjudication orders. Present case examples or relevant material to substantiate their suggestions.

This consultative approach reflects the DGGST’s broader commitment to promoting a transparent, predictable, and trader-friendly tax ecosystem. The feedback gathered during the session will play a key role in shaping future policy adjustments and administrative practices.

The link to the virtual session will be shared directly with the confirmed participants ahead of the meeting. For any queries, stakeholders can contact the Southern Zonal Unit via email at dggst-szu@gov.in or by phone at 044-29515303.

This initiative is expected to foster a more collaborative relationship between tax authorities and the business community, ultimately reducing litigation and improving compliance outcomes under the GST regime.
