Know A P Ravi Appointed as Judicial Member of GSTAT

The Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT) has appointed A P Ravi as Judicial Member, bringing on board a professional with over three decades of deep expertise in indirect taxation laws.

Ravi began his career in 1991 with the Department of Central Excise, Customs & Service Tax, where he served for 14 years. In 2005, he transitioned into private practice as a Partner at Swamy Associates, where he advised leading industries on matters related to Customs, Central Excise, Service Tax, and later the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

In 2019, Ravi founded Intaxx Associates, a specialized law firm offering advisory, litigation, and compliance solutions in indirect taxation. Over the years, he has represented more than 100 retainer clients, handled over 2,000 cases before quasi-judicial authorities, tribunals, High Courts, and the Supreme Court, and has been recognized for providing strategic legal solutions across a wide range of industries.

Apart from his professional accomplishments, Ravi has a strong passion for sports. He represented State Schools in cricket and played at competitive levels within the State, experiences he credits for instilling qualities of discipline, perseverance, and strategic thinking that continue to shape his professional journey.

His appointment to the GSTAT is expected to strengthen the tribunal’s judicial capacity, given his unique blend of government service and private sector expertise.
