India, Pakistan Agree to US-Mediated Ceasefire Following Overnight Talks

India and Pakistan have agreed to a US-brokered ceasefire following intensive overnight negotiations, officials confirmed on Saturday evening. The move comes after US President Donald Trump announced that both nations had committed to a “full and immediate” ceasefire aimed at de-escalating recent tensions.

Taking to Truth Social, President Trump wrote: “After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE. Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed New Delhi’s agreement to the ceasefire on Saturday evening, noting that Pakistan had initiated outreach. “India has agreed to a ceasefire mediated by the United States following a communication from Pakistan,” Misri said.

Shortly after Trump’s announcement, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also issued a statement: “Pakistan and India have agreed to a ceasefire with immediate effect. Pakistan has always strived for peace and security in the region, without compromising on its sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in India has scheduled a press briefing for 6 PM today, where further details and the official Indian position are expected to be shared.

This development marks a significant diplomatic breakthrough amid heightened cross-border tensions in recent weeks.
