Users Question GSTN’s “Time-Travel Glitch” as Old Maintenance Message Reappears

Users Question GSTN’s “Time-Travel Glitch” as Old Maintenance Message ReappearsConfusion erupted among taxpayers and professionals on Monday as several users reported seeing an outdated “Scheduled Downtime” message dated September 30, 2025, on the GSTN portal—a week after the supposed maintenance period had already ended.

Social media was abuzz with users tagging @Infosys_GSTN, questioning why the portal was still showing the old alert. One user sarcastically asked, “Ye kaunse nashe kar liye hain? Aaj toh 7-10-2025 hai, phir 30-09-2025 ka message abhi kyu dikha rahe ho?”

Another user claimed that the “Scheduled Downtime” notice from September had been extended by seven days, though no official communication confirming the extension has been issued by Infosys or GSTN.

Tax professionals complained that the recurring technical glitches have severely affected GSTR filing, especially as deadlines approach. “Even a few hours of downtime during the filing period can cost lakhs in penalties,” said one Mumbai-based chartered accountant.

Despite repeated requests for transparency, GSTN has yet to provide a statement explaining the sudden reappearance of the outdated notice.

The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN)—developed and maintained by Infosys—has faced frequent criticism for technical instability and poor communication regarding portal downtimes. With the October GSTR-1 deadline nearing, users have urged authorities to ensure better uptime and proactive alerts.
