Several users attempting to register for Udyam, the MSME registration portal of the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), encountered an unexpected roadblock today due to a technical glitch.
According to messages displayed on the Udyam Registration portal, while the PAN verification process is working smoothly, the portal is currently unable to retrieve investment and turnover details from the Income Tax Department’s CBDT server.
A message on the screen reads: “Your investment and turnover detail has not received as CBDT server is down. Please try after some time.”
This disruption is particularly problematic for applicants who rely on automatic data fetch from PAN-linked sources to complete their registration efficiently. Though PAN details are being verified and certain form fields are being auto-filled post-verification, the inability to pull financial data could delay the final submission of Udyam applications.
The portal also reminds users that GSTIN is mandatory for Udyam Registration under CGST Act 2017, effective from April 1, 2021, as per notification S.O. 1055(E) dated March 5, 2021. Users are advised to apply for a GSTIN if they haven’t already done so to avoid future inconveniences.
Officials are yet to issue a formal update on the cause or expected resolution time of the CBDT server issue. Users are advised to check back later or wait until the service resumes for a seamless registration experience.
