UDIN Portal to Be Migrated to ICAI DigiCA Platform on December 20, 2025: ICAI

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced a major technological upgrade with the planned migration of the existing Unique Document Identification Number (UDIN) Portal to the ICAI DigiCA Platform on 20 December 2025. This move marks a significant step forward in ICAI’s wider digital transformation strategy and aims to bring multiple member services under a unified, modern interface.

ICAI has stated that the DigiCA Platform will offer an improved user experience with enhanced features, better system stability, and a more intuitive interface. The migration is part of several recent decisions taken by the ICAI Council to streamline professional compliance tools and strengthen the digital ecosystem for chartered accountants across India.

To enable this transition, the current UDIN portal will undergo a scheduled shutdown. All UDIN-related activities—including generation and verification—will remain unavailable for approximately 24 hours, starting from midnight of 19 December 2025. Members have been advised to plan their UDIN requirements in advance to avoid any inconvenience during this downtime.

The integration of UDIN into the DigiCA Platform is expected to provide multiple benefits. These include improved navigation, enhanced security measures, and seamless access to all ICAI digital services through a single window. The upgrade aims to reduce redundancies, improve document authentication processes, and create a more efficient workflow for CAs as well as stakeholders such as regulators, banks, and clients.

Since its introduction in 2019, the UDIN system has played a crucial role in ensuring authenticity and transparency in certifications issued by practising chartered accountants. Migrating it to the DigiCA Platform reinforces ICAI’s commitment to technological modernization and robust compliance mechanisms.

ICAI has urged members to stay updated with forthcoming instructions and guidelines regarding the transition. Additional support materials, including user manuals for the upgraded system, are expected to be released closer to the migration date.
