The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has granted the Non-Functional Selection Grade (NFSG)—equivalent to the rank of Additional Commissioner of Customs & Indirect Taxes—to IRS officer Sameer Dnyandev Wankhede with  effect from January 1, 2021 on a regular basis.

The decision was issued through Office Order No. 37/2026 dated March 9, 2026, from the Department of Revenue in New Delhi.

The approval has been granted by the President of India, conferring the NFSG in pre-revised Pay Band-4 with Grade Pay of Rs. 8,700 (Level 13 of the Pay Matrix) to Wankhede, an officer of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes) batch of 2008.

The order specifies that it will take effect from January 1, 2021 on a regular basis, thereby giving the officer retrospective placement in the higher pay grade.

“The President of India is pleased to grant Non-Functional Selection Grade (NFSG) [i.e. Additional Commissioner of Customs & Indirect Taxes, in pre-revised pay band – 4 with Grade Pay of Rs.8,700/- (Level 13 of Pay Matrix)] to Shri Sameer Dnyandev Wankhede, IRS (C&IT:2008) with effect from 01.01.2021 on regular basis,” the office order read.
