Know The New Finance Secretary, Ajay Seth

The Government of India has designated Shri Ajay Seth, IAS (KN:87), as the new Finance Secretary. A vacancy arose for the position following the recent appointment of Tuhin Kant Pandey as the chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

A 1987-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Karnataka cadre, Shri Seth has held several key positions in the central and state governments. Prior to his current role, he played a crucial role in shaping India’s economic policies, fiscal management strategies, and financial regulatory frameworks.

Ajay Seth was the Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) under the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. A 1987-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the Karnataka cadre, he brings extensive experience in economic policy and financial governance. Born on June 30, 1965, he holds a B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA, equipping him with a strong technical and managerial background. 

As the Secretary of DEA, he plays a pivotal role in shaping India’s economic policies, managing fiscal affairs, and overseeing financial regulations. His office is located in North Block, New Delhi.
