The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced the postponement of the Chartered Accountants (CA) Final and Intermediate Examinations that were scheduled to take place on September 3 and 4, 2025, in selected centres across Punjab and Jammu City.
The decision comes after continuous heavy rains triggered severe flooding in these regions, disrupting daily life and posing logistical hurdles in conducting the exams. The ICAI issued a fresh notification on Tuesday, partially modifying its earlier announcement released on May 30, 2025.
According to ICAI, the rescheduling is limited to specific centres affected by the extreme weather, while examinations in other parts of the country will proceed as per the original timetable.
Why were the exams deferred?
Authorities cited relentless rainfall and the resulting flood-like conditions in Punjab and Jammu as the main reasons for the disruption. With transport, accessibility, and safety becoming major concerns, the Institute stated it was not feasible to hold examinations under such circumstances.
Centres where CA exams stand postponed:
- Amritsar
- Bathinda
- Jalandhar
- Ludhiana
- Mandi Gobindgarh
- Pathankot
- Patiala
- Sangrur
- Jammu City
The ICAI is expected to announce revised dates for these centres shortly. Students have been advised to keep checking the official website for further updates.
