The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), under the Ministry of Finance, has issued Office Order No. 02/2026, announcing a large-scale transfer and posting exercise in the grade of Chief Accounts Officers (CAO) across Customs, CGST, and various Directorates.Â
The order has been issued with the approval of the competent authority and takes immediate effect.

The reshuffle impacts officers across key zones including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and others, reflecting a significant administrative realignment within the department.
As per the order, officers have been directed to join their new place of posting by 20.04.2025, and compliance reports must be submitted by the respective zones by 24.04.2025. The Board has also clarified that no representation will be entertained before joining at the new place of posting.
Additionally, all pending representations regarding transfers and postings in the CAO grade stand disposed of with the issuance of this order.
