CBDT Elevates Five Senior IRS Officers to Chief Commissioner Rank for 2025 Panel Year

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has announced the promotion of five senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officers to the prestigious grade of Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (CCIT) for the panel year 2025. The appointments have been made on an in-situbasis, meaning the officers will continue to serve in their existing postings until further orders.

According to the Office Order issued by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, all promoted officers will assume the upgraded charge upon taking office in the Level-16 pay matrix of ₹2,05,400–₹2,24,400.

The notification, signed by Under Secretary J.S. Malik, specifies that Officers promoted will continue holding their existing posts until formal transfer/posting orders are issued. Compliance reports regarding assumption of charge must be sent by the respective Principal CCIT (CCA) to CBDT and the Data Base Cell by December 10, 2025.
