The Cabinet Secretariat has directed senior government officials across ministries and departments to attend the ongoing India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, and submit detailed notes on potential AI applications within their respective departments.

In an Office Memorandum dated February 16, 2026, issued by the Cabinet Secretariat, all officers above and including the rank of Deputy Secretary have been instructed to visit the summit, which is being held from February 16 to February 20, 2026.

Officers Asked to Document AI Innovations

The memorandum states that attending officers are required to closely observe the ideas, presentations, and AI-driven innovations being showcased at the summit. They must also identify practical use cases that could be implemented within their own ministries, departments, or organizations.

Each officer is required to submit a short note — not exceeding two pages — to the Secretary of their respective Ministry or Department. The note must broadly cover:

  • Significant ideas, innovations, and examples of AI use observed at the summit.
  • Specific AI use cases that can be adopted within their own Ministry, Department, or organization.

Compilation Deadline Set

The Secretaries concerned have been directed to compile these submissions and forward a consolidated report to the Cabinet Secretariat by February 27, 2026.

The communication, signed by Additional Secretary Satendra Singh, emphasizes strict adherence to the instructions.

Push for AI Mainstreaming in Governance

The directive reflects the government’s renewed push to integrate Artificial Intelligence into governance, policymaking, and public service delivery. By mandating participation at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, the Centre appears to be encouraging structured evaluation and adoption of AI-driven solutions across departments.

The move signals a coordinated effort to mainstream AI in administrative functioning and ensure that technological advancements showcased at national platforms translate into actionable reforms within government systems.
