Exclusive visuals that surfaced on social media on Wednesday have raised serious concerns over the alleged illegal transportation, transfer, and possible adulteration of Light Diesel Oil (LDO) in the Mumbai metropolitan region.
According to the information shared, Light Diesel Oil was allegedly transported from Nhava Sheva (Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority area) to Kalamboli, Navi Mumbai. The visuals purportedly show LDO being transferred from container trucks into large tankers inside what appears to be a warehouse or storage facility, raising suspicions of unauthorized handling, storage, and potential diversion for illegal sale or fuel adulteration.
The visuals also include mapped locations indicating Kalamboli and adjoining industrial and commercial zones, suggesting that the alleged activity took place close to busy transport corridors and market areas. If confirmed, such activities could point to a larger racket involving diversion of petroleum products meant for specific industrial or regulated use.
Light Diesel Oil is a controlled petroleum product, and its transportation, storage, and sale are governed by strict regulatory norms under petroleum laws, environmental regulations, and tax statutes. Unauthorized transfer or adulteration of fuel not only leads to significant revenue loss to the exchequer but also poses serious risks to vehicle engines, public safety, and the environment.
The matter has drawn the attention of senior state authorities, with the post tagging the Chief Minister’s Office, the Director General of Police, Maharashtra, Navi Mumbai Police, and national news agencies. As of now, there has been no official confirmation or denial from enforcement agencies regarding the authenticity of the visuals or the commencement of any formal investigation.
Officials are expected to examine CCTV footage, transport documents, warehouse permissions, and fuel samples to ascertain whether any violations of law have occurred. Further investigation may also look into the supply chain, ownership of the vehicles and premises involved, and possible links to fuel adulteration networks operating in the region.
Authorities are likely to initiate appropriate action if the allegations are substantiated. Further developments are awaited.
