Rs. 2.37 Crore Seized Gold at IGI Airport; 39-Year-Old Woman Arrested

The Customs Officers of IGI Airport, New Delhi, have booked a case of smuggling of gold on 26.02.2026 against one TCHADIENNE Female passenger aged 39 years who arrived from Addis Ababa to New Delhi by flight dated 25.02.2026.

The pax was intercepted by the customs officers and her personal & baggage examination resulted in the recovery of gold articles of high purity weighing 1843 grams found concealed in her baggage. The total Tariff value of the above said recovered gold came to Rs. 2,37,05,811. The pax has admitted that the recovered gold has been smuggled without payment of Customs duty and to avoid detection. 

The gold has been seized under section 110 of Customs Act, 1962 and the passenger has been placed under arrest in terms of Section 104 of the Customs Act, 1962. Further investigation is under progress.
