Infosys, India’s second-largest IT services company, has received significant relief in a major Goods and Services Tax (GST) case, with authorities officially closing proceedings related to a demand notice of over ₹30,000 crore.

In a regulatory filing, Infosys confirmed that the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) has communicated the closure of the pre-show cause notice proceedings for the financial years 2018–19 to 2021–22.

“With the receipt of today’s communication from DGGI, this matter stands closed,” the company stated in its official filing to the stock exchanges.

The matter stemmed from a pre-show cause notice issued by the DGGI, alleging non-payment of Integrated GST (IGST) under the Reverse Charge Mechanism for the period spanning July 2017 to March 2022. Infosys had earlier responded to the notice, clarifying its stance.

In a separate disclosure to the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the company reiterated that it had received and duly replied to the notice regarding the IGST issue, and with the latest communication, the issue has been resolved.

This development comes as a major relief to Infosys, as the potential tax liability had raised concerns among investors and industry observers.
