In a major development aimed at strengthening the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT), several State Technical Members took oath today, marking a significant step toward operationalising GSTAT benches across India.
In Uttar Pradesh, three seasoned officers namely Ananjai Kumar Rai, who is currently serving as a Member of the Commercial Tax Tribunal, Bench-IV, in Varanasi; and Arvind Kumar have been inducted.
Gujarat too witnessed key appointments. Rameshkumar Hadvani has been appointed as the Technical Member (State) at the GSTAT Surat Bench. His vast experience in state tax matters is expected to benefit the tribunal’s functioning in the region.
At the GSTAT Bihar Bench, Sanjay Kumar Mawandia has been inducted as Technical Member (State). His joining is seen as a move to bolster the tribunal’s capacity to address a backlog of pending GST appeals in the state.
Meanwhile, Dineshkumar V. Trivedi has been appointed as the Technical Member (State) at the GSTAT Ahmedabad Bench. His inclusion is expected to enhance the bench’s ability to deliver timely and consistent verdicts on tax disputes.
These appointments come at a crucial time as GSTAT gears up to streamline indirect tax adjudication and improve access to justice for taxpayers and businesses across the country.
