India’s GST Collection For February 2025 Rises by 9.1% to ₹1.83 Lakh Crore

New Delhi, March 1, 2025 – The Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections for February 2025 recorded a significant rise, with total gross GST revenue standing at ₹1,83,646 crore, marking a 9.1% year-on-year (YoY) growth compared to February 2024.

The net GST revenue, after adjusting for refunds, stood at ₹1,62,758 crore, reflecting an 8.1% increase over the previous year. The cumulative GST collection for the April-February period in FY 2024-25 reached ₹20.12 lakh crore, growing at 9.4% over the same period in FY 2023-24.

Breakdown of Gross GST Revenue (Feb 2025 vs. Feb 2024):

  • Central GST (CGST): ₹35,204 crore (up from ₹31,785 crore)
  • State GST (SGST): ₹43,704 crore (up from ₹39,615 crore)
  • Integrated GST (IGST): ₹90,870 crore (up from ₹84,098 crore), including ₹40,821 crore collected on imports
  • Cess: ₹13,868 crore (up from ₹12,839 crore), including ₹880 crore collected on imports

State-wise GST Revenue Growth

Among major states, Haryana (20%), Tripura (21%), and Madhya Pradesh (15%) recorded the highest YoY growth in GST revenues. Maharashtra, the state with the highest collection, reported a 13% growth, with total GST revenue reaching ₹30,637 crore in February 2025.

Net Revenue and Refunds

After adjusting for refunds, the net GST revenue for February 2025 stood at ₹1,62,758 crore, growing 8.1% YoY. Refunds issued during the month amounted to ₹20,889 crore, an increase of 17.3% compared to the previous year.

The net revenue from domestic transactions increased by 9.3%, while the net GST from imports saw a 3.6% growth.

Government Outlook

The steady rise in GST collections reflects strong economic activity, better compliance, and enhanced enforcement measures. The Finance Ministry expects revenue growth to remain robust, further supporting fiscal stability.
