Logistics and supply chain company Delhivery has been served a penalty order of Rs 1.32 crore by the Income Tax Department, Delhi. In a recent regulatory filing, the Gurugram-based company confirmed that it received the order on June 28 from the Assessing Officer of Central Circle 18, Delhi.

The penalty relates to a set of undisclosed expenses totaling Rs 3.95 crore that were claimed during the financial year 2015–16. Delhivery has not specified the nature of these expenses in its disclosure.

The company said it will challenge the penalty order before the appropriate appellate authority. It also clarified that the order is not expected to have any material impact on its financial performance or operations.

Regulatory Hurdles Continue

This latest development follows a Rs 49.19 crore show-cause notice served to Delhivery by the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI), Mumbai, in June. That notice pertained to a tax rate interpretation issue under GST regulations.

Acquisition Amid Regulatory Scrutiny

Despite the ongoing regulatory scrutiny, Delhivery continues to expand its footprint. Earlier this month, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) approved its Rs 1,407 crore all-cash acquisition of rival Ecom Express. The move is part of Delhivery’s broader strategy to consolidate its position in India’s logistics sector.

Founded in 2011, Delhivery turned a corner financially in FY25, reporting a net profit of Rs 72.6 crore. However, its revenue growth remained modest at 6% year-on-year.

The company is expected to address the pending regulatory issues while maintaining focus on scaling its logistics and express delivery services across India.
