CGST Faridabad Hosts GST Conclave to Commemorate 8 Years of GST Implementation

Marking the 8th anniversary of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime in India, the CGST Commissionerate, Faridabad, organised a day-long GST Conclave at the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN), Faridabad. The event was held under the national theme — “8 Years of GST – Journey So Far and Challenges Ahead.”

The conclave brought together a wide spectrum of stakeholders, including taxpayers, representatives from trade bodies, and professionals from the regional chapters of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), reflecting the collaborative and consultative nature of India’s GST ecosystem.

Sh. Reyaz Ahmad, Commissioner, CGST Faridabad, led the initiative and highlighted the need for continuous engagement with taxpayers to resolve concerns effectively. He announced the introduction of a new monthly outreach initiative — “SAMVAD” sessions — aimed at fostering open dialogue between taxpayers and the department.

The event was graced by Sh. Sandeep Kumar, Former Member, CBIC, as the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker. He delivered an insightful address on the evolution of the GST regime, discussing its achievements in improving compliance, broadening the tax base, and digitizing tax administration, while also acknowledging the need for further simplification and reforms.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Sh. Aditya Yadav, Joint Commissioner, CGST Faridabad. A key highlight of the conclave was a detailed presentation by Sh. Dharmender Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Division West, who covered important aspects such as revenue trends, refund processes, registration issues, cancellation procedures, and the newly introduced Section 128A, which is expected to bring clarity in adjudication matters.

In her concluding remarks, Ms. Rubal Saroha, Joint Commissioner (Technical), delivered the vote of thanks, appreciating the active participation and constructive feedback from all stakeholders.

The GST Conclave served as a reflective platform to assess the milestones achieved in GST’s eight-year journey, while setting the stage for the road ahead — with a focus on simplification, dialogue, and improved compliance.
