India, Pakistan Agree to US-Mediated Ceasefire Following Overnight Talks

India and Pakistan have agreed to a US-brokered ceasefire following intensive overnight negotiations, officials confirmed on Saturday evening. The move comes after US President Donald Trump announced that both nations had committed to a โ€œfull and immediateโ€ ceasefire aimed at de-escalating recent tensions.

Taking to Truth Social, President Trump wrote: โ€œAfter a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE. Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!โ€

Indiaโ€™s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed New Delhiโ€™s agreement to the ceasefire on Saturday evening, noting that Pakistan had initiated outreach. โ€œIndia has agreed to a ceasefire mediated by the United States following a communication from Pakistan,โ€ Misri said.

Shortly after Trumpโ€™s announcement, Pakistanโ€™s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also issued a statement: โ€œPakistan and India have agreed to a ceasefire with immediate effect. Pakistan has always strived for peace and security in the region, without compromising on its sovereignty and territorial integrity.โ€

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in India has scheduled a press briefing for 6 PM today, where further details and the official Indian position are expected to be shared.

This development marks a significant diplomatic breakthrough amid heightened cross-border tensions in recent weeks.
