CBIC Notifies Regular Promotion to Joint Commissioner Grade for Vacancy Year 2025: CHECK LIST

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has notified the promotion to the grade of Joint Commissioner of Customs & Indirect Taxes on regular basis against vacancy year 2025 with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post.

The President of India ordered that the officers of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes) be promoted 131 officers to the grade of Joint Commissioner of Customs & Indirect Taxes [in the pre-revised pay scale of Pay Band -3 with Grade Pay of Rs. 7600/-] on regular basis against the panel year 2025 with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post.

The promotion of the officers to the grade of Joint Commissioner of Customs and Indirect Taxes shall be on ‘as is where is’ basis till regular postings are made with the approval of the Competent Authority. Therefore, the officers being promoted through this Order shall assume the charge of the post of the Joint Commissioner in the same office where they are currently posted.

The promotion of officers (mentioned in Annexure) to the grade of Joint Commissioner of Customs & Indirect Taxes are subject to related court cases, if any.

The promotion of officers on deputation shall be effective from the date they return to the cadre and assume charge of promotional post. In case they opt to continue on ex-cadre posts, an appropriate proposal from the borrowing authority concerned may be forwarded to the Board by 4th April, 2025 for consideration of grant of proforma promotion in terms of extant instructions.

⁠The concerned Principal Chief Commissioners / Principal Directors General / Chief Commissioners/Director Generals/Principal Commissioners/Principal Additional Director General, CBIC shall ensure that if any of the officers whose name figure in Annexure to this order is under suspension or facing any charge sheet or prosecution, he/she should not be allowed to assume charge of the post of Joint Commissioner of Customs and Indirect Taxes and this fact should be reported to the Board immediately. Further, if any of the officers figuring in Annexure is undergoing any penalty, he/she should be allowed to assume the charge of the post of Joint Commissioner only after the expiry of the currency of the penalty period.
