The Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of CGST & Central Excise, Mumbai Zone, has issued an official order directing the allocation and posting of 38 Assistant Commissioners to the Mumbai Customs formations.
The postings have been made consequent to the recent placement of officers in the grade of Assistant Commissioners in the Mumbai GST & Central Excise Zone and in line with the Minutes of the Meeting of the Principal Chief Commissioners/Chief Commissioners of Customs and GST & CX held on April 1, 2026.
As per the order, a total of 38 Assistant Commissioners who were earlier posted in GST & CX, Mumbai have now been reassigned to Customs, Mumbai. The detailed list of officers is as follows:

The order further stipulates that If any of the officers are involved in duties related to upcoming legislative assembly elections or by-elections in states such as Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, or the Union Territory of Puducherry, they shall be relieved only after completion of election-related responsibilities. Specific postings within Customs Zones I, II, and III in Mumbai will be determined by the competent committee of the Principal Chief Commissioner/Chief Commissioner of Customs. The order has been issued with the approval of the Principal Chief Commissioner of GST & CX, Mumbai Zone.
The directive reflects an administrative reshuffle aimed at strengthening Customs operations in Mumbai, one of India’s busiest trade and revenue hubs.
