The Karnataka Lokayukta conducted a major raid in Haveri district uncovering assets worth over ₹1 crore belonging to Revenue Inspector Ashok Araleshwar, posted in Ranebennur.

The surprise operation, led by DySP Madhusudan, was carried out early in the morning at multiple premises linked to Araleshwar, including his residence and office. Officials reportedly seized property documents worth several crores, gold ornaments, and a substantial amount of cash, indicating possible disproportionate assets far exceeding his known sources of income.

According to Lokayukta sources, the raid was initiated following credible inputs suggesting accumulation of wealth through corrupt practices. “The search yielded incriminating material, including land deeds, bank documents, and luxury household items. The total value of assets discovered so far exceeds ₹1 crore, and assessment is still underway,” said an official involved in the investigation.

Preliminary findings reveal that Araleshwar owned multiple plots of land and had made recent property investments that did not align with his salary and service record. The Lokayukta team has begun verification of all seized documents and valuables to determine the exact scale of disproportionate assets.

The operation is part of the Lokayukta’s ongoing statewide crackdown against corruption in government departments. Several similar raids have been conducted across Karnataka in recent months targeting officials suspected of amassing illegal wealth.

Further investigation is in progress, and the Lokayukta is expected to file a detailed report upon completion of the valuation process.
