The Bengaluru Airport Customs has seized approximately 370 kilograms of high-grade hydroponic ganja and arrested 57 offenders between April and October 2025. The action forms part of India’s ongoing #NashaMuktBharat Abhiyan, a national campaign aimed at eradicating drug abuse and illicit trafficking.

According to officials, the seized contraband—commonly known as hydroponic weed due to its cultivation using nutrient-rich water solutions—was intercepted through a series of targeted operations at Kempegowda International Airport. The offenders were booked under various provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

Customs authorities noted that traffickers have increasingly resorted to sophisticated concealment methods and international courier routes to smuggle such synthetic and high-potency variants of cannabis. Enhanced surveillance, intelligence sharing, and collaboration with enforcement agencies have led to a significant rise in seizures this year.

Bengaluru Customs is fully committed to safeguarding the nation from the menace of narcotics. Our officers remain vigilant against emerging trafficking trends and continue to strengthen interdiction capabilities at all entry points.
