The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has initiated a series of stakeholder consultations to discuss the recently recommended Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms and rate rationalization.
Following the 56th GST Council meeting held on September 3, 2025, the government is moving towards broad-based structural changes in GST, aiming to simplify compliance and ensure smoother implementation across industries.
In an official communication issued on September 8, 2025, CBIC informed that the meetings will be chaired by Shri Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, Chairman, CBIC, with participation from industry associations, trade bodies, and sectoral representatives. The objective of the consultations is to address technical queries, clarify reform measures, and facilitate wider dissemination of GST changes before they are rolled out.
Stakeholders have been asked to confirm participation via email, and the consultations will take place at Kalpavriksha, North Block, New Delhi, between September 10–12, 2025.

Objective of the Consultation
The consultation exercise is designed to:

- Ensure collaborative policy rollout by incorporating feedback from trade and industry stakeholders.
CBIC Director (TRU-I), Ms. Puneeta Bedi, in her signed communication emphasized the importance of participation to ensure effective dissemination of reform measures.
