FIR Filed Against Hyundai Brand Ambassadors Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone

Bharatpur police have registered an FIR against Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and several others after a customer alleged being cheated over manufacturing defects in his Hyundai Alcazar SUV.

The case was lodged at Mathura Gate police station on the basis of a complaint filed by advocate Kirti Singh (50), a resident of Bharatpur. Singh stated that he purchased the Hyundai Alcazar in 2022 from a Sonipat dealership for ₹23.97 lakh.

According to the complaint, the vehicle began showing serious technical problems soon after purchase. Singh alleged that the car vibrates excessively while accelerating or overtaking, fails to pick up speed, and repeatedly displays an engine management system malfunction warning. He claimed the issue has endangered his and his family’s safety on multiple occasions.

When he approached the dealership, Singh was allegedly informed that the problem stemmed from a manufacturing defect and was offered only temporary fixes. However, the problem persisted, causing him financial, physical and mental distress. Despite this, he continues to pay EMIs on the car loan.

The complaint also named Hyundai brand ambassadors Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, accusing them along with the company and its dealers of concealing the defect. Singh alleged this amounted to cheating, criminal breach of trust and conspiracy.

Police confirmed that an FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC and further investigation is underway.
