About S.K. Rahman

In a remarkable achievement under his stewardship, the Thiruvananthapuram Zone has secured All India Rank 1 in two critical areas for FY 2024–25:

  • Expeditious disposal of GST Registration Processes
  • Timely disposal of Appeals

These commendation certificates were conferred by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) on July 1, 2025, in recognition of exceptional administrative performance and citizen-centric service delivery.

A Career of National Recognition

Shri Rahman’s decorated career spans over 32 years, including frontline enforcement, national policy-making, systems development, and international collaboration. He is one of the youngest recipients of the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, awarded in 2008. Other accolades include a Certificate of Merit from the World Customs Organization in Brussels (2011) and the DG’s Commendation Medal from the Narcotics Control Bureau (1995).

Transforming the Thiruvananthapuram Zone

Since assuming charge in March 2025, Shri Rahman has driven a focused agenda of transparency, prompt taxpayer service, and efficient dispute resolution. The All India Rank 1 in registrations and appeals reflects a systemic improvement benefiting businesses and citizens across Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Engaging Industry and Global Community

A prolific speaker and policy educator, he has contributed as faculty at the National Academy of Indirect Taxes and engaged with industry forums such as CII, FICCI, ASSOCHAM, and PHD Chambers. His expertise has also been tapped by the governments of Maldives and Tanzania.

The twin national rankings set a new benchmark for excellence in indirect tax administration, reinforcing Thiruvananthapuram Zone’s reputation as a leader in taxpayer facilitation under Shri Rahman’s leadership.
