Delhi Woman and Boyfriend Arrested for Husband’s Murder; Body Disposed in Haryana Drain

In a shocking case of premeditated murder, Delhi Police have arrested a 34-year-old woman and her 28-year-old partner for allegedly conspiring to kill her husband and disposing of his body in a drain in Gannaur, Haryana. A third accomplice involved in the crime is currently on the run.

Investigation Uncovers Murder Plot

The case began with the disappearance of Pritam Prakash, a 42-year-old resident of Alipur, whose criminal record included multiple cases under the Arms Act and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. His wife, Soniya, initially filed a missing person complaint. However, inconsistencies in her statement led investigators to suspect foul play.

During interrogation, police discovered that Soniya and her boyfriend Rohit, a native of Sonipat in Haryana, had conspired to eliminate Pritam. Investigations revealed that they allegedly hired a third person, Vijay, to carry out the murder in exchange for ₹50,000.

Evidence and Crime Scene Details

According to the police, the murder took place in July 2024, and the victim’s body was secretly dumped in a drain in the Gannaur area of Sonipat to avoid detection. The body was concealed in such a way that identification would be delayed.

Forensic teams worked closely with both Delhi and Haryana police to trace the sequence of events. Through digital surveillance, mobile tracking, and interrogation, police confirmed the couple’s involvement and arrested them on August 2, 2025.

Accused and Legal Status

The accused have been identified as:

  • Soniya (34) – wife of the deceased and primary conspirator.
  • Rohit (28) – her boyfriend and active participant in the crime.
  • Vijay – alleged contract killer, who remains absconding.

Both Soniya and Rohit are now in judicial custody, while efforts are underway to locate and apprehend Vijay. Authorities have issued a lookout notice for the absconding accused and are pursuing leads across Delhi and Haryana.

Police Statement

A senior police official said,

“The murder appears to have been carefully planned over several weeks. The wife and her partner wanted to eliminate the victim due to personal disputes and ongoing domestic conflicts. A criminal past and financial motives may have also played a role.”

Possible Motives

Preliminary findings suggest that the murder was driven by a combination of personal enmity, an extramarital affair, and financial stress. Police sources claim the relationship between Soniya and Pritam had been strained for years, possibly due to his violent behavior and criminal background.
