The Karnataka High Court has sought the clarification on multiple Show Cause Notices (SCNs) and Orders for the same assessee and Financial Year (FY).
The petitioner challenged the multiple orders passed for the same period by different assessing officers as also multiple show cause notices issued for the very same period. In that view of the matter, the operation and execution of order dated 7.12.2023 (uploaded online on 30.12.2023) bearing order passed by respondent/department is stayed till the next date of hearing.
The AGA directed secure instructions and made his submission as to how multiple show-cause notices could have been issued for the same by different officers of the respondent as also how multiple orders could be passed for the very same as regards the very same assessee. As also to ascertain and make a submission if there is any system which has been implemented by the respondents to obviate the above situation.
The court while listing the matter on 20-08-2025 sought the response from department how multiple SCNs could have been issued by different officers as also how multiple orders could be passed for the very same FY as regards the very same assessee. The response if there is any system which has been implemented by the dept. to obviate the situation.
