The Udyam Registration portal, vital for Indiaโs MSMEs, is currently facing a major outage, leaving thousands of users unable to fetch essential investment and turnover data. The disruption stems from a technical failure in the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) server, which is responsible for retrieving financial data via PAN integration.
Although PAN verification is functioning, other automated fields essential for completing or updating Udyam registrations remain inaccessible.
The Ministry of MSME has acknowledged the issue and stated that efforts are underway to resolve the disruption in coordination with CBDT officials.
User Backlash: Long Waits, Stuck Payments
The outage has triggered a wave of user complaints online. Entrepreneurs and professionals have expressed mounting frustration, especially with pending payments and form submissions being stuck.
Hiren Bhatt asked, โSince how long has this server been down? Any update on when will it be resolved?โ
Zaid, a video editor, posted: โPlease fix this issue; I have many payments that have been stuck due to it.โ
Another user, Sagathiya Bharat, wrote: โ3 dino se site ka server down haiโฆ vo bhi government site ka [The site has been down for 3 days โ and it’s a government site].โ
Dev Tyagi questioned: โเคฏเคน เคเคฌ เคคเค fix เคนเฅเคเคพ..? [How long will this take to fix?]โ
Shad remarked: โSince yesterday afternoon till now it’s been almost 24 hours unable to use the Udyam portal.โ
Users tagging both @minmsme and @IncomeTaxIndia are demanding immediate intervention.
In the meantime, impacted entrepreneurs and business owners are advised to monitor official channels for updates. The government has committed to restoring full functionality โwithin the shortest possible timeframe,โ ensuring minimal business disruption.
What users can do while the portal is down:
Track status updates via official MSME and Udyam websites.
Prepare required financial documents in advance to expedite registration once the issue is resolved.
Contact MSME helpdesk for urgent queries or alternative arrangements.
Impact:
Millions of SMEsโalready challenged by fluctuating economic conditionsโmay face delays in accessing government benefits tied to Udyam registration, such as priority lending, subsidies, and government tenders.
