The Ministry of Finance has announced the release of a special Rs. 50 coin made of pure silver to celebrate the Golden Year (50th anniversary) of the Official Language Department.

Metal Composition: 99.9% pure silver

Weight: 40 grams

Serrations: 200 on the edges

Design Features:

Obverse (Front Side):

Features the Lion Capital of the Ashoka Pillar at the center, with the national motto “सत्यमेव जयते” inscribed below. The words “भारत” and “INDIA” are etched on the left and right peripheries respectively, accompanied by the rupee symbol “₹” and the numeral “50”.

Reverse (Back Side):

A stylized lotus with petals bearing Hindi alphabets surrounds the central numeral “50”. The upper periphery carries the inscription “राजभाषा विभाग का स्वर्णिम वर्ष समारोह” in Devanagari script, while the lower edge features “GOLDEN YEAR CELEBRATION OF OFFICIAL LANGUAGE DEPARTMENT” in English. The year “2025” is prominently marked at the top.

The commemorative coin not only reflects India’s linguistic heritage but also highlights the central government’s initiative to honour administrative departments through symbolic mementos.

This limited-edition silver coin is expected to be of interest to collectors and patriots alike, symbolizing both cultural pride and administrative legacy.
