India’s gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections for June 2025 stood at ₹1,84,597 crore, marking a 6.2% year-on-year growth from ₹1,73,813 crore in June 2024.

The data, released by the Ministry of Finance, reflects steady domestic consumption and import activity, coupled with robust enforcement and improved compliance.

In the first quarter of FY 2025–26 (April to June), the total gross GST collections reached ₹6,22,363 crore—an 11.8% increase compared to the same period last year. This includes ₹1,18,625 crore CGST, ₹1,46,542 crore SGST, ₹3,17,375 crore IGST, and ₹39,821 crore from the Compensation Cess.

Net GST Revenue Posts 10.7% Q1 Growth

After adjusting for refunds, the total net GST revenue for Q1 rose to ₹5,42,533 crore, reflecting a 10.7% growth over last year’s ₹4,90,174 crore. Net domestic GST revenue rose 8% while revenue from GST on imports surged 22.8%.

Refunds saw a steep jump—rising 28.4% in June alone—with ₹25,491 crore issued in June 2025 compared to ₹19,853 crore in June 2024. Export refunds through ICEGATE witnessed a significant 46.4% jump for the month.

Among the major states, Bihar reported a sharp 12% growth in monthly GST revenue, followed by Karnataka (8%), Kerala (9%), and Telangana (8%). On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Punjab recorded negative or flat growth trends. Notably, Nagaland registered a massive 71% increase, while Manipur and Mizoram saw declines of 36% and 29%, respectively.

Maharashtra continued to lead with the highest GST collection of ₹30,553 crore, a 6% growth from the previous year. Karnataka and Tamil Nadu followed with collections of ₹13,409 crore and ₹10,676 crore, respectively.

Digital Expansion and Compliance Drive Collections

With over 89 lakh GSTINs now active across India—up from 64 lakh in the previous year—tax base expansion has played a key role in revenue growth. Several states also saw significant increases in registration and return filing, supported by digitized compliance systems and focused audit mechanisms.
