Advocate Vineet Jindal has lodged a complaint with the Delhi Police Commissioner against Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and the party’s social media incharge, accusing them of publishing and amplifying derogatory content against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The complaint points to a controversial post from the official Congress Twitter/X handle on August 28, 2025, which carried a “Missing Poster” of the Prime Minister with captions such as “गुमशुदा वोट चोर की तलाश है” and “कुख्यात वोट चोर.”Jindal alleges that the posts were intended to malign the image of the Prime Minister and provoke disrespect toward the highest constitutional office.

He further accuses Rahul Gandhi of repeatedly using defamatory language in public rallies, including branding the Prime Minister a “चोर” and alleging corruption and electoral malpractice — remarks which were also amplified through the party’s official social media.

The complaint seeks an FIR under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, including criminal defamation, provocation to breach peace, and statements conducing to public mischief, along with relevant sections of the Information Technology Act, 2000.

Jindal has also demanded the immediate removal of the posts and an investigation into what he describes as a “deliberate conspiracy to undermine democratic institutions and tarnish the Prime Minister’s dignity.”

The Congress has not yet issued an official response to the complaint, which is expected to intensify political tensions between the ruling BJP and the Opposition.
