The state government has suspended two senior officials Arun Shankar Rai and Satish Kumar for causing over Rs. 10 crore in revenue loss to the state exchequer and being involved in bribery. The decision was taken after preliminary evidence established their misconduct.

The suspended officers include Arun Shankar Rai, Additional Commissioner Grade-2 (Appeals), Kanpur, and Satish Kumar, Assistant Commissioner, State Tax, Rampur Division-1.

According to sources, Arun Shankar Rai, while posted as Deputy Commissioner in Gautam Buddh Nagar Zone, Noida, between the financial years 2009-10 and 2013-14, deliberately issued flawed determination orders in weight disputes involving companies such as Ultra Home Construction, Atrapali Safire Developers, Hightech City Developers, and Atrapali Home Projects. These irregular decisions caused a revenue loss of over Rs. 10 crore to the state government.

Additionally, Vigilance officials caught Assistant Commissioner Satish Kumar red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 15,000 in Rampur. Consequently, the government immediately suspended him and attached him to the office of the Joint Commissioner (Executive), Azamgarh, during the suspension period.

Similarly, Arun Shankar Rai was suspended and attached to the office of the Additional Commissioner Grade-1, Jhansi. While serving as Deputy Commissioner in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Arun Shankar Rai is alleged to have made flawed decisions in weight disputes, thereby defrauding the government.

This decisive action reflects the government’s zero-tolerance policy toward corruption. It sends a strong message that deliberate manipulation of weight disputes or other irregularities will not be tolerated and will face stringent action.

The administration has initiated further disciplinary proceedings against the accused officials, reinforcing its commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in government operations.
