The Chief Justice of India, Justice Sanjiv Khanna has directed the Chief Justice of the High Court of Delhi, Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya to not to assign any judicial work to Justice Yashwant Varma.

In a sensational turn of events, the Supreme Court of India has confirmed the discovery of burnt currency notes at the official residence of Justice Yashwant Varma, a sitting judge of the Delhi High Court. The apex court has released photos and videos of the burnt cash, intensifying the ongoing investigation into the matter.

Supreme Court Orders High-Level Inquiry

Taking swift action, the Chief Justice of India has constituted a three-member committee to investigate the allegations against Justice Yashwant Varma. The panel comprises:

  • Justice Sheel Nagu – Chief Justice of the Punjab & Haryana High Court
  • Justice G.S. Sandhawalia – Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court
  • Justice Anu Sivaraman – Judge of the Karnataka High Court

The committee has been tasked with thoroughly examining the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the burnt cash and determining any potential judicial misconduct.

Justice Yashwant Varma Relieved of Judicial Duties

Pending the inquiry, the Chief Justice of the High Court of Delhi for the time being has been asked not to assign any judicial work to Justice Yashwant Varma. This decision underscores the gravity of the allegations and ensures an impartial probe without interference.
