Fake Inter-State GST ITC Billing Worth Rs. 88 Crore By Iron And Steel Traders Busted
In a significant move to boost GST compliance and ease the registration process for traders and businesses, the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Delhi North Zone launched a two-day special registration drive in the bustling markets of Karol Bagh and Chandni Chowk.

The initiative, inaugurated by Shri Rajesh Sodhi, Principal Chief Commissioner, CGST and Principal Commissioner, CGST Delhi North, brought registration kiosks directly to the doorsteps of traders. The drive aims to enhance taxpayer experience, increase registration uptake, and promote voluntary compliance under India’s indirect tax framework.
The objective of this drive is to reach out to the grassroots level, particularly in dense commercial areas like Karol Bagh and Chandni Chowk, and ensure that no trader is left behind in the formal tax ecosystem.
During the inauguration, Shri Rajesh Sodhi and other senior officials engaged with trade representatives, addressing their queries and offering hands-on guidance on the registration process. The outreach emphasized the government’s commitment to making GST compliance more accessible and business-friendly.

Officials noted a positive response from the trading community, with many appreciating the ease and efficiency of the doorstep registration service. The drive is expected to not only increase the number of GST registrations but also build trust and cooperation between tax authorities and the business community.
This special initiative is part of a broader strategy by the CGST Delhi North Zone to strengthen compliance and support economic formalization through proactive taxpayer facilitation.
