Sanjay Kumar Mawandia Appointed Technical Member (State) to Bihar Bench of GSTAT

The Ministry of Finance, has announced the appointment of Shri Sanjay Kumar Mawandia, Retired Special Commissioner of State Tax, Bihar, to the post of Technical Member (State) in the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT). The appointment is specifically for the state bench located in Bihar at Patna.

According to the Office Order No. TMS-01/2025 dated July 9, 2025, Shri Mawandia will serve in this capacity for a term of four years starting from the date he assumes office, or until he attains the age of 67 years, whichever comes earlier. He will receive a fixed monthly salary of Rs. 2,25,000. The appointment is made in accordance with the provisions of the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (Appointment and Conditions of Service of President and Members) Rules, 2023, and the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017.

As part of his assignment, Shri Mawandia is required to assume or take charge of the post of Technical Member (State) at the Principal Bench, GSTAT, New Delhi, on or after August 1, 2025, within four weeks. He must also submit a medical fitness certificate from a competent authority in his home state before taking charge.
