Minister of State for Finance Shri Pankaj Chaudhary today launched Atithi 2.0 nationwide at the Customs Symposium 2026 held at Vigyan Bhawan, marking a significant step in the Government’s push towards digital governance and paperless travel compliance.

Developed by the Directorate General of Systems, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) under the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Atithi 2.0 is designed to streamline customs procedures for international travellers arriving in India.

Is Atithi Only an App?

Atithi is both a web portal and a mobile application.

Travellers can access the platform through:

Web Portal: https://atithi.cbic.gov.in/

Mobile App: Available on Google Play Store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.org.customnew&hl=en_IN)

This dual-access model ensures convenience for users globally, allowing them to complete required formalities either before departure or upon arrival in India.

Key Features of Atithi 2.0

The platform enables international passengers to:

  • File Baggage Declarations
  • Declare Dutiable Items
  • Submit Currency Declarations
  • Access other citizen-centric customs services
  • Apply for Export Certificates for goods intended for re-import

Travellers can submit declarations before arrival or after landing but prior to entering the Green Channel, significantly reducing waiting time at airports.

Boost to Ease of Travel

The launch of Atithi 2.0 is aimed at:

  • Reducing processing time at airport customs counters
  • Minimizing paperwork and manual verification
  • Enhancing transparency and compliance
  • Improving passenger experience at Indian airports

By digitizing customs declarations, the platform supports the Government’s broader objective of strengthening India’s digital infrastructure while facilitating seamless international travel.

Driving Digital Governance

Speaking at the symposium, the initiative was highlighted as part of CBIC’s ongoing modernization efforts to integrate technology into border management and revenue administration systems.

With Atithi 2.0 now rolled out nationwide, Customs authorities expect smoother passenger flow, better data integration, and improved risk assessment capabilities.

The initiative reflects India’s continued commitment to leveraging technology for citizen convenience while maintaining robust regulatory oversight at international borders.
