The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Shri Mayank Kumar as a Member of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). He is a 1991-batch officer of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Indirect Taxes) and currently serves as Principal Chief Commissioner, Mumbai Customs (Zone-I).

The Department of Personnel and Training communicated the approval in an order dated September 24, 2026. The order states that the appointment is against an existing vacancy on the Board. It does not specify a portfolio or state when Kumar will assume charge.

Kumar’s current post places him at the head of Mumbai Customs (Zone-I). His appointment moves him from that field leadership role to the CBIC Board, which oversees the administration of customs, GST and other central indirect taxes under the Department of Revenue.

The order was issued by the Secretariat of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet and addressed to the Department of Revenue. It was also forwarded to the Prime Minister’s Office and the Cabinet Secretariat for information.
