India’s Gross GST Collections Rise 13.9% to ₹1.95 Lakh Crore in June 2026

India’s Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections maintained their strong growth trajectory in June 2026, with gross GST revenue increasing by 13.9% year-on-year to ₹1,94,812 crore, compared to ₹1,71,105 crore collected in June 2025. The robust performance was primarily driven by a sharp rise in GST collections on imports, while domestic GST collections also recorded healthy growth. 

The latest provisional data released by the Government shows that gross domestic GST revenue stood at ₹1,34,774 crore, registering a growth of 6.5% over the corresponding month last year. Meanwhile, GST revenue from imports climbed 34.6% to ₹60,038 crore, reflecting stronger import activity and higher tax realization.

Gross GST Revenue Nears ₹2 Lakh Crore

The June 2026 figures indicate continued buoyancy in indirect tax collections.

The break-up of gross GST collections is as follows:

  • CGST: ₹37,376 crore
  • SGST: ₹45,116 crore
  • IGST: ₹1,12,320 crore
  • Total Gross GST Revenue: ₹1,94,812 crore

Compared to June 2025, overall gross GST revenue increased by 13.9%, underscoring sustained economic activity and improved tax compliance. 

Domestic Collections Continue Steady Growth

Domestic GST collections, excluding imports, recorded a moderate but healthy increase.

  • Gross Domestic Revenue: ₹1,34,774 crore
  • Growth: 6.5%

Within domestic collections:

  • CGST rose from ₹34,558 crore to ₹37,376 crore.
  • SGST increased from ₹43,268 crore to ₹45,116 crore.
  • Domestic IGST collections improved from ₹48,680 crore to ₹52,282 crore

Import GST Collections Register Sharp Increase

One of the most significant highlights of the June data is the sharp rise in import-related GST revenue.

GST collected on imports increased from ₹44,600 crore in June 2025 to ₹60,038 crore in June 2026, reflecting a 34.6% year-on-year growth. This substantially outpaced the growth in domestic collections and contributed significantly to the overall increase in GST revenues. 

Refunds Increase by Nearly 30%

The Government also issued GST refunds amounting to ₹32,436 crore during June 2026, compared to ₹25,121 crore in June 2025, representing an increase of 29.1%.

The refund figures comprise:

  • Domestic Refunds: ₹17,767 crore (up 42.9%)
  • Export Refunds through ICEGATE: ₹14,669 crore (up 15.6%)

Higher refund disbursements continue to support liquidity for exporters and businesses while maintaining the integrity of the GST credit mechanism. 

Net GST Revenue Rises 11.2%

After adjusting for refunds, the Government’s net GST revenue stood at ₹1,62,377 crore, compared to ₹1,45,984 crore in June 2025, registering an 11.2% increase.

The net revenue comprised:

  • Net Domestic Revenue: ₹1,17,007 crore
  • Net Customs GST Revenue: ₹45,370 crore

Notably, net customs GST revenue increased by 42.2%, indicating strong import tax collections even after refund adjustments. 

Quarterly Collections Also Show Healthy Growth

For the first quarter of FY 2026-27 (April–June 2026), cumulative figures also reflected sustained momentum.

During the period:

  • Gross GST Revenue: ₹6,31,699 crore (up 8.4%)
  • Gross Domestic Revenue: ₹4,54,427 crore (up 2.8%)
  • Gross Import Revenue: ₹1,77,273 crore (up 26.2%)
  • Total Refunds: ₹91,482 crore (up 16.8%)
  • Net GST Revenue: ₹5,40,218 crore (up 7.1%) 

State-wise Performance

Among the larger States, several recorded strong growth in domestic GST collections during June 2026.

Major performers included:

  • Uttar Pradesh: 19% growth
  • Assam: 17%
  • Punjab: 14%
  • Gujarat: 12%
  • Kerala: 11%
  • Telangana: 11%
  • Goa: 11%
  • Karnataka: 10%
  • Maharashtra: 9%
  • Haryana: 9%
  • Delhi: 8%

Some States, however, witnessed declines, including:

  • Sikkim: -53%
  • Puducherry: -28%
  • Himachal Pradesh: -26%
  • Uttarakhand: -21%
  • Jharkhand: -16%
  • Rajasthan: -5%
  • Madhya Pradesh: -5%
  • Tamil Nadu: -2% 

SGST Settlements to States Increase

Following IGST settlements, States collectively received significantly higher SGST revenues.

The post-settlement SGST collections for June 2026 increased to ₹88,242 crore, compared to ₹81,322 crore in June 2025, reflecting a 9% growth. Cumulatively for April–June 2026, post-settlement SGST collections rose 18% over the previous year, providing additional fiscal support to State Governments. 

Provisional Figures

The Government has clarified that the GST collection figures are provisional and may undergo minor revisions upon final reconciliation.
