Recently the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) twitted that its endeavour to grant registration within 7 days to combat corruption.

“We maintain a zero tolerance policy towards corruption. If there is any specific complaint, please use the CPGRAM portal,” the Board added.

The CBIC’s reply came in response of the tweet of Shivam Shankar Singh who raised his concerns regarding the corruption. He stated, corruption in GST starts from registration itself now. Getting told it’s impossible to get it done in Delhi without a bribe. You get a query for more docs with the name of official, then your CA is supposed to contact them and pay up. Anyone got it done without this in 2024?”

Here Are replies on the CBIC’s Tweet – GST Registration Within 7 Days To Combat Corruption

Why not automate GST registration using Aadhar authentication or digital signatures? Why is human intervention required just to generate a number based on PAN? Manual processes (Inspector Raj) haven’t curbed fake registrations but only complicate life for honest taxpayers,” tweeted Mukund Thakur.

Aadhar verification is already there, but mindset matters, if the official is not willing to give you registration it is not possible for a consultant or businessman to appeal or go to court in each case. It is better to fulfill the dream of officials,” tweeted Ranjit Kumar.

“They will keep rejecting your application if you don’t pay them! Hard reality

And they say india is business friendly,”  tweeted aayushaggarwal.

It’s true. I got my first GST number in 2019 without paying any bribe or field visit. In 2023 for my 2nd GST number I had to pay bribe plus the GST inspector calls you several times,” tweets Abhishek from Youform.

Corruption

There is a rate card for corruption in India. I think it is better to legalise corruption and name it a “service charge”. With UPI payments, corruption has become earlier, faster and more efficient,” tweets Mahesh.

Same situation in every state. GST depts are getting targets (of bribe) from central govt. and officials are protected by them. They keep rejecting applications and demand new docs step by step making it more lengthy. Was asked for 10k bribe indirectly to get GSTIN in UP, tweets Paras.

De daake khatam karo, roz paala padne hai, else har choti cheez par pareshan karenge, business karoge ya inke notice jheloge, tweets Sunil Singh.
