CBIC Announces Farewell for Chairman and 2 Senior Members as They Superannuate on November 28

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC), under the Ministry of Finance, has issued an official memorandum announcing a formal farewell for three of its senior-most officers—Chairman Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, Member (GST, CX & ST) Shashank Priya, and Member (Admin & Vigilance) Aruna Narayan Gupta—all of whom are set to superannuate on November 28, 2025.

According to the communication, the farewell function will be held on 28 November 2025, from 4:00 PM onwards, at the Big Conference Hall (14000 B), C Wing, 4th Floor, Kartavya Bhawan-1, New Delhi.

The superannuation of the Chairman and two senior Members marks a significant moment for CBIC, as all three have held crucial portfolios in the administration of GST, Customs, Central Excise, and Vigilance. Their exit is expected to pave the way for a major reshuffle within the organisation.

  • Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, as Chairman, has been the senior-most officer leading the Board.
  • Shashank Priya has overseen GST, Central Excise, and Service Tax matters as a Member.
  • Aruna Narayan Gupta, as Member (Admin & Vigilance), has supervised personnel, vigilance, and administrative mechanisms of the department.

The memorandum directs all officers of the rank of Deputy Secretary/Director and above posted in the Board Office, as well as Principal Chief Commissioners, Chief Commissioners, Principal Directors General, and other senior officials posted in Delhi–NCR, to attend the farewell.

In addition, officers of the rank of Principal Commissioners/Commissioners, Principal ADGs/ADGs, Directors General, and Joint Secretaries are requested to participate.

To cover the expenses for the farewell, each participant has been requested to contribute ₹200. Contributions are to be sent to Harish Kumar, Superintendent, who is coordinating the event logistics. His mobile number is mentioned in the memorandum for communication purposes.
