Exports Of Frozen Meat Products Will Now Require Proof of Remittance to MEDF: DGFT

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade has notified that the exports of chilled and frozen meat products  will now require proof of remittance to the Meat Export Development Fund (MEDF) from 29 October 2025.

The DGFT has notified the amendment in export policy of meat and meat products.

The government has mandated that, “The export of chilled/frozen meat shall be permitted subject to submission of proof of remittance to the Meat Export Development Fund (MEDF), operated by APEDA.”

This means that exporters must now submit evidence that they have deposited the required remittance into the MEDF before export clearance is granted.

The condition applies specifically to the following HS Codes under the category of meat of bovine animals and edible offal:

0201 – Meat of Bovine Animals, Fresh and Chilled

  • 02013000 – Boneless

0202 – Meat of Bovine Animals, Frozen

  • 02023000 – Boneless

0206 – Edible Offal of Bovine Animals, Fresh, Chilled or Frozen

  • 02061000 – Of bovine animals, fresh or chilled
  • 02062100 – Of bovine animals, frozen – Tongues
  • 02062200 – Of bovine animals, frozen – Livers
  • 02062900 – Of bovine animals, frozen – Other

For each of these items, exports will now also be subject to the newly added Export Policy Condition 9 of the Chapter.

To allow time for transition, the new policy will come into effect from 29 October 2025.
