CBIC Revises Tariff Values For These Imported Commodities From Today [READ NOTIFICATION]

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has revised tariff values for a range of imported goods, effective from May 31, 2025.

This update has been made in exercise of the powers conferred under sub-section (2) of Section 14 of the Customs Act, 1962, replacing the earlier tariff tables specified in Notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.).

Key Changes in Tariff Values

Edible Oils:

  • Crude Palm Oil: $965/MT
  • RBD Palm Oil: $1018/MT
  • Crude Palmolein: $1023/MT
  • RBD Palmolein: $1026/MT
  • Crude Soybean Oil: $1092/MT

Metals and Scraps:

  • Brass Scrap (all grades): $5483/MT

Gold and Silver:

  • Gold (in eligible forms): $1067 per 10 grams
  • Silver (in eligible forms): $1080 per kilogram
  • Other refined forms of gold and silver, including bars and medallions, will also follow the same valuation criteria.

Other Commodities:

  • Areca Nuts: $6970/MT (unchanged)

The revised tariff values aim to reflect current international prices more accurately and help in the effective collection of customs duty.

According to the notification signed by Megha Bansal, Under Secretary to the Government of India, the updated valuation tables are part of periodic adjustments made to ensure fair trade practices and tax administration.

This notification supersedes the last amendment made via Notification No. 34/2025-CUSTOMS (N.T.), dated May 15, 2025.
